Sarah is a passionate advocate for educational equity, driven by the belief that every student deserves the opportunity to pursue their goals. With an MBA from Wayne State University and experience as a relationship architect in the sustainable business sector, Sarah brings a unique blend of business acumen and dedication to the Pontiac Alumni Foundation’s (PAF) scholarship programming. Sarah is committed to empowering students to create positive change in the world.

Professional Background:

Sarah has worked as the Administrator for Sustainable Business Network Detroit (SBND) for the past three years, amplifying the innovative work being done to improve climate resilience and sovereignty. Sarah works to advance and amplify the efforts of businesses and organization in Southeast Michigan to make Detroit a global leader in sustainability. She successfully bridges and expands networks and community engagement across sectors, connecting people, ideas, and resources by utilizing events and social media platforms. Prior to that, Sarah earned her Bachelor of Arts and master’s degrees, worked in Operations and Marketing for a non-profit healthcare (FQHC), and was a Project Coordinator and Business Planner for GM.

City Connection:

As a proud Pontiac Central Chiefs alumnus, and a reunion planning committee member, Sarah joined PAF because of her connection to the city she was raised in and a strong commitment to the foundation’s mission to provide educational access for under-resourced students, and socially relevant educational opportunities to address systemic barriers through collaboration, cultural initiatives, and strategic partnerships that prioritize a triple-bottom-line.  Sarah is driven by the belief that access to education is a fundamental right, and she is committed to elevating students to pursue their passions and achieve their full potential.

Board Contributions:

Sarah is actively involved in Scholarship and Events Committees and is the Chair of the Operations and Digital Marketing Committees. She leveraged her MBA knowledge and professional experience to develop a culturally responsive rebranding strategy post-pandemic, with an understanding that through volunteerism, empowering others, empowers her.
